Art meets Life

Dome of Khayyam's Tomb
In an episode of I Dream of Jeannie entitled ‘The Moving Finger’ which first aired on November 13, 1965, Jeannie has a screen test for which she recites the following verses from Edward Fitzgerald’s translation of the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám:
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.

And when like her, oh Saki, you shall pass
Among the Guests star-scatter'd on the Grass,
And in your joyous Errand reach the Spot
Where I made one -- turn down an empty Glass!
